Moeller Swimming Captures 2nd Place in State of Ohio!

Per Mike Asbeck: The Moeller Crusaders Saturday night captured the 2nd place finish in the Division 1 OHSAA Boys Swimming Championships. The teams final score was the highest ever by a Moeller Swimming Team in the State Championship. More information will be posted as it becomes available.

Results on the Boys OHSAA Winners:

* Diving: Anderson HIgh School's Evan Leupen finished 11th at state with a score of 445.55. St. Xavier's Drew Fitzgerald finished 17th, up from his 19th place in preliminaries, with a score of 272.75.

* 200 IM - Mark Andrew of Middletown won a state title with a time of 1:46.63. Cooper Hodge of Moeller finished fifth, St. Xavier's Mitchell Frey finished seventh and Nate Jonas of St. Xavier finished eighth. In the consolation finals, Nicholas Perera of St. Xavier finished ninth and Matthew McDonald of Lakota East finished 14th.

* 200 freestyle - St. Xavier's Grant House won a state title with a time of 1:35.28. Matt Slabe of St. Xavier placed fourth, Hassler Carroll of Anderson placed fifth, Joshua McDonald of Lakota East placed sixth and Justin Hove of Mason placed seventh. Iin the consolation final, Grant Carr of St. Xavier placed ninth, Charles Leibson of St. X placed 11th and Joel Thatcher of Mason placed 14th.

* 50 freestyle - Jack German of Little Miami placed third with a time of :20.75. Zach Apple of Edgewood placed fourth and Joe Berno of St. X placed eighth. Benjamin Pawlukiewicz of Lakota West placed 16th in the consolation round.

* 200 medley relay - St. Xavier won the title in 1:32.03 with a relay of J. Wray, Mitchell Frey, L. Sobolewski and Joe Berno. Moeller's relay team of N. Worobetz, Cooper Hodge, J. Peloquin and K. George finished fifth. Lakota East's team of Mathew McDonald, Josh McDonald, Keith Jessee and Brad Barren finished 12th in the consolation final.

* 100 freestyle - Grant House of St. Xavier picked up another state title in this event with a time of :44.79. Also in the finals were Zach Apple, Edgewood, second; Jack German of Little Miami, tied for fifth and Mark Hancher of Sycamore, 8th. Mitchell Frey of St. Xavier finished 12th in the consolation final.

* 500 freestyle - It was an all-Greater Cincinnati top eight as sophomore Joshua McDonald of Lakota East won a state title in a time of 4:25.35. Rounding out the top eight were: Mark Andrew of Middletown, second; Hassler Carroll of Anderson, third; Matt Slabe of St. Xavier fourth; Joel Thatcher of Mason, fifth; Kevin George of Moeller, sixth; Jonathan Ericksen of Turpin, seventh; and Patrick Butkovich of St. Xavier, eighth. In the consolation finals were: Justin Hove, Mason, 9th; Christian Imbus of St. Xavier, 11th; Nate Jonas of St. X, 12th; and Liam Grebert of Turpin, 16th.

* 100 butterfly - Mark Hancher of Sycamore was the highest finisher at third place. Jacob Peloquin of Moeller finished fifth and Luke Sobolewski of St. Xavier finished eighth. Gordon Wheeler of St. Xavier finished 12 in the consolation finals.

* 100 backstroke - James Wray was the highest finisher at fifth place for St. Xavier. Teammate Luke Sobolewski finished sixth and Moeller's Jacob Peloquin finished seventh. In the consolation finals, Justin Grender of St. X placed 10th; Matthew McDonald of Lakota East placed 13th. Norah Worobetz of Moeller, 14th; Cooper Hodge of Moeller, 15th and Liam Moran of St. Xavier, 16th.

* 100 breaststroke - Dillon Froass of St. Xavier placed eighth. Teammate Luke Van Gorp finished 13th.

* 200 freestyle relay - St. Xavier took second place behind team of Joe Berno, Grant House, Matt Slabe and Carr. Moeller finished seventh with team of J. Davidson, K. George, D. Nymberg and W. McCullough. In the consolation finals, Mason took ninth with M. Mwalupindi, P. He, P. Bailey and J. Hove. Sycamore finished 13th with I. Goldstein, E. Bell, B. Thiss and M. Hancher.

* 400 freestyle relay - St. Xavier won another title behind team of Matt Slabe, G. Carr, Grant House and M. Frey in a time of 3:03.03. Mason's relay team of M. Mwalupindi, P. He, J. Thatcher and J. Hove earned fifth place. Moeller's team of J. Peloquin, K. George, C. Hodge and N. Worobetz finished seventh. In the consolation rounds, Lakota East's team of J. McDonald, M. McDonald, B. Barren and K. Jessee finished 13th; Sycamore's team of Mark Hancher, J. Heldman, B. Thiss and I. Goldstein finished 15th.
