FAIRBORN - Six years after they last met in a Division I regional final, Moeller was able to hold off La Salle once again, 38-32 to advance to the Division I state tournament for the first time since 2010. The Crusaders held the Lancers to a season-low 32 points and 34 percent shooting in beating them for a third consecutive time this season.
After going scoreless in the first half, senior Keegan McDowell led Moeller with 10 points, while La Salle senior C.J. Fleming led the Lancers with 10 points in his final prep appearance. Afterward, McDowell was one of the many Crusaders sporting pieces of the Wright State Nutter Center regional championship net on his ear.
"Anytime you play a team three times, you know each other so well," McDowell said. "You could see that in the first half. We just tried to find that edge, those little things you can take advantage of. I think we did that tonight. Another GCL game (with) incredible physicality. Just a tough game."
