The Road to State Continues for Coach Crockett & Moeller Crusaders Track & Field!

Fresh off their GCL-Championship, Moeller’s Track & Field team has continued to perform well at the District and Regional Competitions.

★ On May 9-11, the team brought home a runner up finish in one of the strongest Districts in the state. Seven Moeller athletes won District Champion titles:

  • Ben Bowers – 1600 meter run: 4:26.86
  • Sean Delany/Eric Wills/Jared Regruth/RJ Khayo – 4 x 100 relay: 42.41
  • Ryan Smith – shotput: 57’8”
  • Ryan Smith – discus: 169’3”
  • Dene White – high jump: 6’4”

★ The Crusaders also had 2 District Runners Up, with Sean Delany running a PR of 14.80 in the 110 hurdles and Jack Lowry bringing in a second-place finish in the 1600 at 4:27. Additional regional qualifiers with stellar performances were Ben Bowers with 3rd in the 3200 meter run (new PR of 9:33.07), Nick Marsh with 4th in discus (new PR of 136’1”), and Eric Wills with a high jump of 5’10”.

Other athletes bringing home personal bests in District Competition included: Sam Buehler (110 hurdles), Joe Craft (400m), Nick Lima (800m), Aaron Haas (200m), and Joe Craft/Tom King/Tyler Rinn/Jeremy Duncan (4 x 400 m relay finals).

★ In Regional Competition on May 23-25, the Crusaders continued to shine with a 5th place overall finish while advancing 7 athletes to State competition. Several qualifiers had PR performances, including:

  • Regional Champion, Ryan Smith won discus with a new PR throw of 175’, and placed 4th in shotput with a throw of 53’5”;
  • Ben Bowers, brought home 3rd with a new PR of 9:24 in the 3200;
  • Our 4 x 100 Relay team of Delany, Wills, Regruth, Khayo (Haas - Alternate) placed 3rd with a new PR of 42.37; and
  • Dene White cleared 6’5”, setting a new PR and taking 3rd

★ State competition will begin for Moeller Track & Field on Friday at 6:00p at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium with the prelims for the 4 x 100m relay team of Delany, Wills, Regruth, and Khayo.

Competition will continue on Saturday under the guidance of Coaches Crockett, Milne, Jackson, & Prenger. The 4 x 100 team, Ben Bowers, and Ryan Smith will all be shooting for school records. Come out and show your support!

5:30p – 4 x 100 relay finals (Delany, Wills, Regruth, Khayo)

6:20p – 3200m run (Bowers)
